IN MEMORY OF A MOTHER:
This client requested a portrait of their mother, based on a photo that held deep personal meaning.
The focus of the piece was her face - carefully and softly rendered to honor her presence with warmth and accuracy. A gentle, understated background adds a misty, dreamlike atmosphere, evoking the tenderness of memory and the passage of time.
Drawn on 5” x 7” smooth paper for crisp clarity and fine detail, the piece is finished with a delicate 1-inch border to give it structure and an elegant, timeless feel.
A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND PENCIL STROKES:
This personal project was inspired by a favorite photo of my husband and me, taken shortly before we got married. I wanted to preserve that moment through rich pencil texture and intentional detail.
The focus is on our faces, where I spent the most time bringing out subtle expressions and capturing the emotion of the moment. The background was carefully added to reflect the setting of that beautiful evening - one we’ll never forget. We were both a little nervous in front of the camera, but thanks to our incredible photographer, the moment was captured perfectly.
Drawn on 5” x 7” smooth paper, which allowed for soft transitions in detail and crisp, expressive linework.
